2024. július 1 és 2024. december 31 között Magyarország második alkalommal tölti be az Európai Unió Tanácsának elnöki tisztét. Az Európai Unió Tanácsának elnöksége félévente váltakozik a 27 tagállam között. Az elnökséget betöltő ország vezeti a Tanács munkáját, illetve képviseli az összes tagállamot a más uniós intézményekkel folytatott tárgyalásokon.
Az EU Tanácsa a hét uniós intézmény egyike. Hivatalos neve az Európai Unió Tanácsa – röviden a Tanács. A Tanács tárgyalja az Európai Bizottság által javasolt jogszabályokat, és a döntések gyakran az Európai Parlamenttel folytatott további tárgyalásokat követően születnek. A Tanács az EU-tagállamok minisztereiből áll. Az elnökséget betöltő ország üléseket szervez és bonyolít le, valamint képviseli a Tanácsot a többi uniós intézményhez fűződő kapcsolatokban. 2024 második fél évében Magyarország, mint soros tanácsi elnök felel az ülések és események lebonyolításáért. A magyar elnökség hivatalos honlapján értesülhetnek aktuális hírekről, események időpontjáról és a rendezvények beszámolóiról.
Hungary will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union for the second time between 1 July 2024 and 31 December 2024. The presidency of the Council of the European Union rotates every six months among the 27 Member States. The country holding the presidency leads the work of the Council and represents all the member states in negotiations with the other EU institutions.
The Council of the EU is one of the seven EU institutions. Its official name is the Council of the European Union - or Council for short. The Council discusses legislation proposed by the European Commission and often takes decisions after further negotiations with the European Parliament. The Council is made up of ministers from EU countries. The country holding the presidency organises and holds meetings and represents the Council at in its relations with the other EU institutions. In the second half of 2024, Hungary will be responsible for the organisation of meetings and events as President-in-Office of the Council.
